After 24 years of presentations, Fisher Maritime’s Port Engineer’s & Owner’s Representative’s Course has been integrated into an expanded presentation of the Contract Management for Ship Construction, Repair and Design course.
Why Was the Course Changed?
The content of the two courses overlapped by about 70-75%. After numerous discussions with past attendees of the Port Engineer’s Course, we came to appreciate that those attendees would benefit from exposure to the parts of the Contract Management Course that were not included in the Port Engineer’s Course — but this would require expanding the Contract Management Course.
This also means that persons who take the Contract Management Course now will also be educated to – and better understand — the critical role of port engineers and owner’s representatives who are at the center of many shipyard projects.
Change Benefits
The content of the unique parts of the Port Engineer’s Course is now included in an expanded presentation of the Contract Management Course, which has been lengthened from 4 days of 2.5 hours to 4 days of four (4) hours – from 10 classroom hours to 16 classroom hours.
Further, upon completion of each presentation of the expanded Contract Management Course, interested persons can receive the supplemental reference materials that routinely have been provided to participants of the Port Engineer’s Course.
